SHOCKING! Boy Injured In Pushpa 2 Stampede Unable To Recognise Family, Shifted To Neurorehabilitation Centre!

A devastating stampede during the premiere of the film Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, 2024, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, left a woman dead and her young son critically injured. The woman, identified as 39-year-old Revathi, died in the chaos, while her nine-year-old son, Sritej, was discovered unconscious beside her. Quick action by police constables, who administered CPR on the spot, saved his life, and he was immediately shifted to Durga Bai Deshmukh Hospital. He was later transferred to KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad for further treatment.
More than three months since the incident, Sritej’s condition remains concerning. Doctors have confirmed that he is unable to recognise his family or respond to any verbal instructions. Although he no longer needs ventilatory or oxygen support, he continues to experience intermittent dystonia and increased upper body movements. Medical professionals recently performed an Endoscopic Gastrostomy procedure to facilitate feeding directly to his stomach, which he is responding to well. He has now been moved to a neurorehabilitation centre for extended care and recovery.
The stampede has raised serious questions about event management and crowd control. Actor Allu Arjun, who was present at the venue during the incident, was charged along with his team and the theatre authorities under sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He was arrested on December 13 and granted interim bail a day later.
In a gesture of support, Allu Arjun, alongside the producers and director of Pushpa 2: The Rule, announced a financial aid package of ₹2 crore for the bereaved family. The case has drawn attention to the urgent need for enforcing strict safety regulations during large public gatherings to prevent such heart-wrenching incidents in the future.
