Sarv Jatiya Khap Mahapanchayat threatens to launch a mass agitation if Government fails to order a CBI investigation into Sonali Phogat's death case
BJP leader and actress Sonali Phogat died in Goa on 22nd August 2022 and her death is investigating by Goa Police. Cops have arrested her manager Sudhir Sangwan, his associate Sukhwinder Singh and two drug peddlers in the murder case of Phogat. However, Sonali’s daughter and family members are not satisfied with the probe conducted by the Goa Police and thus have demanded a CBI probe into the case. Now, 'Sarv Jatiya Khap Mahapanchayat' has threatened to launch a mass agitation if Government fails to order a CBI investigation into the matter.
As per the latest reports, On Sunday, the 'Sarv Jatiya Khap Mahapanchayat' gave an ultimatum to the Haryana government to order a CBI probe into Sonali Phogat's death case by September 23 or else they will start a mass agitation. The mahapanchayat was held in Jat Dharamshala and Sonali’s daughter Yashodhara and other family members also took part in it. The mahapanchayat will be having another council meeting on September 24 if the government fails to ensure their demand for a CBI probe. It is being said that Khap representatives from all over Haryana and other states will then take the tough decision of launching a mass agitation. Reportedly, five members of Phogat's family including her daughter are a part of a 15-member committee formed in the mahapanchayat. Sonali Phogat’s teenage daughter at mahapanchayat, folded her hands and asked to support her to get justice for her mother.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reacted to the demand for a CBI probe into the Phogat death case and told the media that the case is with the Goa government. The CM said, “Goa Police is currently investigating the entire matter. They have said that once their investigation is completed, even after that, if Sonali Phogat's family is not satisfied with the probe, then the investigation of the case will be handed over to the CBI.”
