First Day First Show: Akshay Kumar's Jolly LLB 2 Off To A Good Start
Moviegoers thronged the theatres for the legal drama and Akshay Kumar’s performance in Jolly LLB 2 seems to have won them over
Subhash Kapoor is back with the sequel to his 2013 hit
Jolly LLB and this time he has superstar Akshay Kumar by his side, instead of
Arshad Warsi.
Jolly LLB 2 ended the uninterrupted two–week run of Raees
and Kaabil which released on January 25 and the film successfully attracted the
crowds to the first show.
Speaking to a few theater ticket counters, I found out
that the opening show had registered 65-69% occupancy for the morning shows.
Talking about the audience response, the moviegoers
admitted that they missed Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani's banter from the first
film. However everyone unanimously liked the sequel too.
Akshay’s turn as an honest but hard-on-his-luck lawyer
was appreciated and the witty banter in the film seems to have impressed the
audience.
Everyone praised Subhash's direction and screenplay while
the supporting cast of the film, including seasoned actors like Annu Kapoor,
Saurabh Shukla and Kumud Mishra also earned praise.
However, lots of people complained that Huma Qureshi, as
the leading lady, didn't have much to do.
Now, only time will tell if Jolly LLB 2 will be Akshay’s
fourth consecutive film to join the 100 crore club after Airlift, Rustom and
Housefull 3 which released in 2016.
