WHAT THE FU**! SABOTAGE!! Udta Punjab leaked online!!!
In what could possibly be a big attempt to sabotage Udta Punjab, in all probability by those who are opposing its release, major portions of the movie (40 minutes) have already leaked online. Meanwhile, some say the FULL movie (with a running time of 2 hours, 20 minutes) is available on certain websites. (We’ll come back to tell you the exact length of the film that is now available on your gadgets. )

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not submitted the certificate to Udta Punjab producers Ekta Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap yet -- it’s scheduled for 4.30 pm today.  However, shockingly, the leaked copy bears the ‘For Censor’ stamp, which indicates that it’s the same copy that’s with the CBFC.

With major chunks of the film now available online, one is forced to suspect if it is an attempt to sabotage it.

The question is, who leaked it? How did the uncensored edition of a movie, which is awaiting CBFC’s certification, find its way online?  Interestingly, even the ‘single’ scene the Bombay High Court had wanted out -- of Shahid Kapoor’s character urinating on the audience -- is a part of the leaked copy.

The battle between Udta Punjab makers and CBFC has been raging over the past few days, with the Censor Board demanding as many as 89 cuts in the Abhishek Chaubey-directorial.

However, the CBFC was slammed by the Bombay High Court on Monday for its archaic decision and ordered that the movie be cleared with a single cut (Udta Punjab wins the battle against the Censor Board, June 13Th).

With the major stumbling block cleared, Anurag said yesterday that the movie will be released as scheduled -- on June 17 (Anurag Kashyap: We have fought it out in the High Court and if need be, we shall fight it out in the Supreme Court as well, June 14th ).

No doubt, it’s a big setback for Team Udta Punjab and a sad day for every Indian who believes in creative freedom. We wonder if the filmmakers had insured the film.

This is the fourth time that an online leak has happened with a Kashyap film-- Black Friday, Paanch, Ugli. In the former two cases, Kashyap  leaked the film himself-- but faced a similar situation to Udta punjab in Ugli .
