Shah Rukh Khan Reveals Why Sonu Nigam's Song Was Deleted From Raees

As you are aware, songstress Shreya Ghoshal's number was axed from the Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan-starrer Raees due to the song not suiting the script.

But it was not just Shreya who faced the disappointment, even Sonu Nigam’s song has been deleted from the film. But the reason is not any tiff or misbalanced equation between Sonu and Shah Rukh.

In fact, at a recent press conference for his film Raees, SRK revealed why Sonu’s song couldn’t make it to the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ritesh Sidhwani were present at this conference while Pakistani actress Mahira Khan joined them via video conference.

Addressing that a few good scenes and a song composed by Ram Sampath and crooned by Sonu Nigam had been axed from the film, SRK elaborated, "There were some good scenes and one fantastic song sung by Sonu Nigam which we had to delete because of some length issues."

Interestingly a few days ago, after the release of the film Raees, a few fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment as Sonu Nigam's song was deleted from the film.

A calm and composed Sonu took things in his stride and asked his fans to take things positively. As a reply to all his disappointed fans, he wrote, "Guys, please chill.  D song that I sang for #Raees, was not fitting in the film. It's a creative decision & I respect it. Love you all." Not just this, Sonu Nigam even sent good wishes to Shah Rukh Khan and wished him luck for the film.

Looks like a lot of last minute changes have taken place in SRK’s Raees as far as the film’s music is concerned. Besides Sonu and Shreya’s song being axed, a month before the release of the film, the producers had requested Gerua composer Pritam to deliver a couple of songs. That is when Arijit Singh’s Zaalima slipped in the music album.
