Kamya Punjabi is a woman on mission. On April 1, the
first death anniversary of Pratyusha Banerjee, who was her close friend, Kamya
will launch a film online which bears an uncanny resemblance to Pratyusha's
last days.
Excerpts from an interview:
What made you make a film on Pratyusha?
Good question. And thank you so much for asking me this.
I don't know why people are thinking that I have made this film. I have just
acted in it. My friend Neerushaa has produced the film and it's called Hum
Kuch Keh Naa Sakey.

How did it all happen?
Well, Neerushaa is a close friend. She called me one
evening and said that she wanted me to shoot for this film, the same night. I
went into a tizzy, but I did it for Neerushaa. When I reached the sets, I
realised that my role had been done by someone else, but that actress was not
able to deliver the right emotions.
Had Pratyusha shot for the film?
Of course.
Pratyusha's boyfriend alleges that you are using
Pratyusha's death to make commercial gains for yourself...
Does it matter what he says? He floated a story in the
media many months ago that he is sending me a legal notice because I have
defamed him. That legal notice never reached me. What he says carries no weight
at all.

The earnings from the Pratyusha short film will go to
Pratyusha's parents. Does that answer Rahul's charge that I am releasing a film
on Pratyusha to make money? Trust me, I still can't forget the depression that
Pratyusha was undergoing in her last days. I myself underwent a depression
around the same time because I had a heartbreak.
Your man deserted you..
Absolutely. He simply walked out on me when my world
revolved around him. Without my knowledge, he was having an affair.
Have you become wary of men now?
Not really, but yes, I have become a bit bitter in life.
As of now, I am very much single and there's no one on the horizon. Kal ka
kisko malum?
Actually it's written on my forehead 'Stay away from me'.
I would also like to say that the film Hum Kuch Keh Naa Sakey is
not just about Pratyusha, it's about depression. Do you know that I had gone
into a depression when my man left me in the lurch? It was a depression of the
worst kind, it could have killed me. I couldn't step out of my room for many
days. Thank God, I realised that I was undergoing depression and took help. I
am also getting my counsellor on stage on the day when the Pratyusha film is
launched.
