Kapil Sharma felt insecure and ran away from the battlefield
Tonight, you'll see Govinda's nephew Krushna Abhishek in Comedy Nights Live at exactly the same time you had your appointment with Comedy Nights With Kapil (CNWK). His Comedy Nights Bachao (CNB) is going very strong on Saturdays. SpotboyE spoke to the man of the moment at length to get his views on his rival Kapil Sharma's exit from Colors. Excerpts:

How does it feel to have a show in Kapil's slot?
Colors was running CNWK very well. For some strange reason, Kapil had a problem when big stars started coming to my show CNB as well. He shouldn't have left Colors, who made him into a big brand. He forgot that when Shah Rukh visited his show for the first time, it was due to Colors and not him.
Aap apna show apne dum per chalao, hum apna show apne dum pe chalayenge. Why couldn't he have had a healthy competition with me? Why did he run away? Why did he feel so insecure? He is such a talented artiste. I thought he'll fight back.
If you recall, he felt insecure even when Guthi's popularity increased. Think of it, Guthi's show too didn't well when he branched out and quit Colors.

Did Kapil speak to you about his grouse before leaving?
No, he did not. But I know about it, na? (pauses).

Go on...
Kapil saw SRK, Salman, Deepika, everyone coming to CNB. And that was it! He had a feeling that big stars would refuse to come to my show. Pray, why shouldn't big stars come to CNB? Trust me, stars love to be in our midst- and vice versa. Will you believe that Deepika dropped in for Tamasha and promised me that she'll get Ranveer on her own for Bajirao Mastani? Shah Rukh said that he feels extremely de-stressed in our company. Let me tell you one more thing.

What?
Ever since CNWK started, Salman has come on Kapil’s show to promote every film of his. Kapil felt that he would never come to CNB. But during the time of Hero, Salman came to CNB and ditched CNWK.

When do you think Kapil reached his flashpoint?
I think it happened when SRK came to my show. It would have been better if Kapil had concentrated on bettering his content, it had become monotonous.

Are you and Kapil talking to each other?
We are not on great terms. We talk if and when we meet, say a 'Hi' followed by some small talk. He is upset with me since a long time.

Why?
He wanted me to be a part of his CNWK gang. I refused. I didn't want to be a part of it because the show had his name in the title. I didn't want to be shortchanged. I didn't even go on his show to promote my film Entertainment; Akshay and many others did. Today, I don't need him to promote any of my films. Did I not promote my Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 on CNB?

Has Kapil's exit been a good thing for you?
Of course. Woh toh maidan chhod ke chala gaya. I can eat the entire cake now.

Buzz is, he is about to lock his deal with Star. Bet he'll lock horns with you over the weekends at the same time slots which you occupy on Colors...
I have nothing to fear. I have good content and a supportive channel. And I have a great team. Kapil is a tiger, but we are a team of tiger (referring to himself?), elephant (referring to Bharti Singh?) and many other animals who have their own USP.
