Hey but liplocks are as old as civilisation and vintage cinema, aren’t they? The snafu with Befikre is that it goes at the age-old custom as if it had gone totally haywire to titillate the audience in the absence of a halfway decent storyline.

Yeah, so the birds and the bees do it. And if you ask me no one has quite described Ranbir Kapoor as a bad kisser till Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and the characterisation of Anushka Sharma in it came along.

Now whatever our Ranveer Singh, Ranbir and of course Emraan Hashmi may have done by way of necking-smooching etc, I’d still say that no one does ‘it’ quite like Hollywood to date.

Think of ye olde classics: Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind, Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr on an isolated beach in From Here to Eternity or Cary Grant courting Ingrid Bergman or Grace Kelly, nothing has quite equalled the mouth-to-mouth sensuality (sexuality if you like). Just look at the classic pics here and you’ll know what I mean.

With time, kisses in H-town have become more torrid naturally. They initiated in-the-rain-erotica too by the way.

So here’s puckering up my lips to pick the 10 Kiss-Me-Quick Besties of Hollywood:

Breakast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard get into action in New York rain.

Body Heat (1981)

Kathleen Turner as a femme fatale gives William Hurt a taste of her mysterious medicine.

9 ½ Weeks (1986)

Mickey Rourke went for jam, fruit and ice-cubes to woohoo Kathleen Turner. Refrigerator sales went through the roof subsequently.

Dirty Dancing (1987)

Dancing withing breathing distance can be terrific turn-on. Proof: Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

Basic Instinct (1992)

Sharon Stone ensnared Michael Douglas in many which ways but erm, her cross-legged pose proved to be majorly iconic.

Romeo + Juliet (1996)

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in yet another clinching take on Shakespeare’s immortal love story.

Titanic (1997)

Kiss-happy Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet aboard the great tragic ship, live it up while it lasts.

Spider-Man (2002)

Caution: If you aren’t a super-hero, the upside down kinky smooch of Spidey Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst may call for some acrobatic skills.

The Notebook (2004)

Wet a way to go. Water’s the guaranteed aphrodisiac for Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.

Closer (2004)

Do not disturb: Clive Owens and Natalie Portman. They seriously followed the spirit of the film’s title.
