Elli AvRam, the Indian-Swedish-Greek actress, will soon be seen in ALTBalaji’s next, The Verdict – State V/s Nanavati. Manav Kaul the role of Kawas Nanavati while Viraf Patel will be seen as his counterpart, Prem Ahuja.

We had a telephonic chat with Elli- and this is just the initial part of the conversation, that largely dwells on her new assignment Verdict- an upcoming web series by ALTBalaji:

Has Bollywood given you your due?
I think this year will be great. I have projects with Netflix and Amazon. Plus, I am doing a series Verdict, based on the Nanavati Murder Case with ALTBalaji.

What you playing in that?
I play Sylvia, the wife. This role will change the perception that people have of me.

What's the perception that you have heard? That you are a dancer, item-girl...
Exactly. It's just that lucky break which we all need to be taken seriously. Verdict is one such.

It needs someone to have faith in an actor...
Yes, which is why I think ALTBalaji had a rather tough audition.

What was it?
A scene where Sylvia is terribly hurt and breaks down. It's a dream role. Imagine, I play a 28-year old who plays a mother of three children.

Did you read up on the case before you went for the audition?
Of course, in detail.

You seem to be in favour of web shows? Is it because they allow you a lot of freedom of expression?
I like every medium, it's not just the web shows.

But will you be able to do the bold scenes, which are a norm?
If the script and character demands, why not?

Would you have the sixth sense to judge if it's being done for titillation?
Definitely.

P.S: Await the full interview on SpotboyE.com, where Elli even talks about Hardik Pandya!
