Parineeti Chopra-Sidharth Malhotra: Nervousness, Excitement And Box-Office Expectations Of Jabariya Jodi
Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra are excited and nervous in equal measures ahead of their film’s release Jabariya Jodi. The duo engaged in a conversation with SpotboyE.com and spoke candidly about the film and their characters
Ahead of this week’s release Jabariya Jodi, we got talking to the lead pair Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra at Taj Land’s End, Bandra. We began the interview by asking them as to what were the thoughts running through their mind when the film’s release got delayed. They stated that it’s the decision taken by distributors and producers so they have nothing but to abide by it.
Next, they spoke about the theme of the film which delves into the dowry system which is still predominant in some states of India. We asked the duo if the characters were easy to essay on screen. Parineeti started off by saying, “She is a very emotional and vulnerable girl who really believes in love and when something really wrong happens in your life and you have to take life into your own hands, that’s the part you have seen in the trailer. So, it wasn’t easy because the lingo is totally different and the world is totally different. But yes, it’s still in the world of a strong, small-town girl. I guess that’s why I was offered the film. But yeah, it wasn’t easy. I don’t think any role is easy.
Sidharth added, “Definitely not easy for me because this is completely new and alien to me, the character from a small town. I had to start from scratch, getting the accent right, getting the look right and then deciding how much to push the envelope. Like, we all have a particular impression of people from Bihar, but we wanted to take a more real and younger take on it. Not everybody in Bihar talks with a very strong accent, especially in 2019.”
Then, of course, they spoke about the jittery thoughts they get before every film of theirs releases in cinema halls, which is a given. And finally, the topic veered towards their respective personal lives and current relationship statutes. While Sid revealed that he would surely announce when he’s in love, Pari stated that she would only announce the day she decides to get married. On that note, it was time for us to call it a wrap.
