Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri Registers A Jump On Day 2, Collects Rs 5.20 Crore
After a modest Day 1, Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh's love story saw growth on Saturday and garnered Rs 5.20 Cr, taking the total collections of the film to Rs 9.22 cr in two days
Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada-starrer, Phillauri showcased an improved performance on Day 2 at the box-office.
After pocketing an ordinary Rs 4.02 crore on day 1, Phillauri minted Rs 5.20 crore on the second day.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to post Day 2 collections. He wrote, "#Phillauri is STRONG in North, the key contributor... Biz saw growth on Sat... Sun crucial... Fri 4.02 cr, Sat 5.20 cr. Total: ₹ 9.22 cr.”
As Taran Adarsh said, the film has performed well in the North but overall it was a disappointing start for an Anushka Sharma film, considering the diva has delivered two back to back blockbusters- Sultan and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
The film has got average reviews from the critics as well as the masses. While some people loved the film, there were others who said the film was too slow paced for their liking, despite good performances from Anushka, Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma. SpotboyE.com film critic Khalid Mohamed has also given 2.5 stars to the film.
He summed up the film as, “With all its pros and cons Phillauri is okay, a cut above the average. Meet the friendly ghost lady only if you have time, patience and money to spare.”
Phillauri is Anushka’s second home production after NH-10 which was applauded by critics and audiences alike. This is Diljit’s second Bollywood film after Udta Punjab. The film is directed by debutant Anshai Lal.
