Badrinath Ki Dulhania On A High, Collects Rs. 14.75 Crore On Day 2
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s romance drama, Badrinath Ki Dulhania continues its glorious run at the box-office and makes Rs 27 cr in just two days
Badrinath Ki Dulhania had got off to an impressive start at the box- office, collecting Rs 12.25 crore on Day 1. Now, the film is on an upswing as Day 2 proved to be even better. The Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt starrer pocketed Rs 14.75 crore on Day 2.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#BadrinathKiDulhania shows growth on Sat... Eyes ₹ 43 cr [+/-] weekend... Fri 12.25 cr, Sat 14.75 cr. Total: ₹27 cr. India biz (sic).”
For Varun, this is his third best opening numbers at the box-office, after Dilwale which also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Kriti Sanon besides the actor and ABCD 2 which had Shraddha Kapoor essaying his love interest. Also, Badrinath Ki Dulhania has registered the third highest opening of the year so far after Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees (Rs 20.42 crore) and Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 13.20 crore).
SpotboyE film critic Khalid Mohamed gave it 2.5 stars and said, "Despite being handicapped by ill-conceived part, Alia Bhatt is as spontaneous and pixiesh as ever. And Varun Dhawan re-establishes a charismatic screen presence. Handling his mood swings ably, he is particularly impressive in the climax which could have become laughable under an out-of-control actor."
So, over all, Badrinath Ki Dulhania seems to be heading for a great weekend opening. Looking at the improved collections on Day 2, it will be safe to say that the movie will only ascend further in the coming days.
