Deepika Padukone's film narrating an inspirational tale of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal titled Chhapaak refuses to show an upward arrow on the graph. Ever since the movie released on January 10, 2020, it’s barely showed an upward spike in terms of box-office figures. The movie has not even managed to touch the Rs 30 crore mark in seven days. Compared to Ajay Devgn’s flick based on Maratha warrior Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior, which has already touched the 100 crore mark at the ticket window, Chhapaak is very slow.
As per reports in Box office India, this Meghna Gulzar helmed flick, stands at Rs. 25.75 crore in seven days, which is extremely low. Many blame it on Deepika’s participation in the protest standing by JNU students and then being vocal about it during her interaction with a news channel. Thus, one can say, though the content of the movie was upto the mark and meeting an excellent audience’s expectation, the controversy killed it. Opening on Rs. 4.50 crore, Chhapaak’s Thursday collection was just Rs. 1.25 crore. ALSO READ: Chhapaak Box Office Prediction Day 1: Despite Boycott Deepika Outrage, The Film Will See A Decent Opening
