January 25 was a big day in Bollywood as it witnessed two biggies – Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees – battling it out at the box-office. The first day collections of both the films are out and SRK’s Raees has the lead as per the figures.
While Raees has registered Rs 20.42 cr, Kaabil has managed to get a decent start of Rs 10.43 cr.

However, makers of both, Raees and Kaabil, have a long weekend ahead of them. It is too early to say which film will ultimately rule the box-office.
Another factor which can’t be ruled out here is the unequal distribution of shows between Raees and Kaabil. In a shocking turnaround of events, the division of shows between Kaabil and Raees changed to 45-55 and 40-60 across cinemas, instead of the decided 50-50 ratio, on the day of release.
The box-office figures may indicate a decent start for the Hrithik-Yami-starrer, but it is quite evident that both- Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan are disturbed and upset about the unfair distribution of shows between Kaabil and Raees. He even added that Kaabil will record a low collection on Day 1 because of the unreasonable distribution of shows, and well, it looks like from the first day collections that it did record a lower figure!
On the other hand, Raees has won fair reviews. The crazy rush of fans outside cinemas just to see the superstar on the big screen proved the fact that SRK’s magic is also working.
As for Kaabil, the audience is all praise for this revenge drama and touting it to be as one of Hrithik’s finest performances. Let’s wait for the weekend collection figures to ascertain which film will finally win the battle!
