Despite IPL Weekend, John Abraham's Parmanu Earns Rs 20.78 Cr in 3 Days. Trade Experts Speak...
Parmanu starring John Abraham, Diana Penty and Boman Irani among others opened to a decent figure of Rs 4.82 Cr. The military drama went on to register Rs 7.64 Cr on Day 2 and now on Day 3, it has earned Rs 8.32 Cr.

Interestingly, inspite of the IPL final between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad - Parmanu managed to rake in an impressive sum. Not just that, the film also had to face the Eliminator 2 on Friday between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrises Hyderabad.

The film has now crossed the Rs 20 Cr mark in its first 3 days.

Trade Expert Taran Adarsh has taken to social media to share the figure. He wrote, "#Parmanu crosses ₹ 20 cr mark... RESPECTABLE TOTAL... Limited promotion/awareness + #IPL semi-finals [Fri] and #IPL finals [Sun] hit biz hard... Weekdays crucial... Fri 4.82 cr, Sat 7.64 cr, Sun 8.32 cr. Total: ₹ 20.78 cr [1935 screens]. India biz (sic)."

We spoke to various trade experts and theatre owners to have their take on Parmanu’s performance.

PVR Juhu General Manager, Ravi Sibal said, “I don’t think there was any effect because of IPL. Parmanu has done fairly well.”

Trade Expert Akshye Rathi said, “I truly believe that nothing can beat the power of solid content. Parmanu is a very engaging and entertaining film and it has managed to catch the fancy of moviegoers across the country. Now that the IPL is over, I’m sure it will sustain fabulously. The word-of-mouth for the film is terrific.”

Executive Director Gaiety Galaxy & Maratha Mandir Cinemas, Manoj Desai also was quite pumped up about Parmanu. Said Desai, “Yes, Parmanu got affected a lot because of the IPL. Then there is Ramzan – because of that the Muslim public wouldn’t come now. That’s another factor which is affecting the collections. The occupancy today is slightly lesser than what it was over the 3-day weekend, but yet we are running on 60% occupancy today – and that’s not bad.”

Taran Adarsh, however, spoke cautiously, “Business has been affected because of fewer promotions and less awareness among the people about the film. Parmanu has to maintain consistent collections over all the weekdays to cover ground. The reports for today (Monday) are good, and the multiplexes should be doing well.”

All we have to say:  Well done John, especially considering the fact that you had barely any time for much publicity campaign.
