Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadha starrer Fukrey Returns has surprisingly got a good opening at the box-office.

The film made Rs 8.10 crore on Day 1, which is quite high as compared to other releases of the month like Kapil Sharma's Firangi (Rs 1.75-2 crore), Tera Intezaar (Rs 40-45 lakh) and Tumari Sulu (2.5 Crore).

Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the figures. He wrote, “And the Fukreys RETURN with a BIG BANG... #FukreyReturns has an OUTSTANDING Day 1... Fri ₹ 8.10 cr. India biz. #Fukrey [2013] had collected... Day 1: ₹ 2.62 cr Opening weekend: ₹ 9.82 cr Week 1: ₹ 18.42 cr Lifetime: ₹ 36.5 cr India biz.. (sic).”

“#Fukrey is now a BRAND in view of the TERRIFIC START of #FukreyReturns... Joins the list of ESTABLISHED BRANDS like #HouseFull, #Dhamaal, #Golmaal and #Judwaa... Genre: Comedy/Entertainer,” he further tweeted.

Meanwhile, author and SpotboyE.com’s reviewer, Khalid Mohamed gave the film 2.5 stars. He wrote, “Meaning the sequel of you-know-which-flick ,Fukrey Returns directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and written by Vipul Vig, jogs-‘n’-jigs all over the capital’s gullies and chaubaras. Admittedly, the franchise does seem to have plenty of potential for a zany zapper, and occasionally succeeds in drawing out a belly laugh, plus a titter or two. Yoo wooh.”

Praising Richa Chadha and Varun Sharma, he wrote, “Richa Chadha is allocated more screen time and punchliners. And she’s terrific, attacking them with the relish of a chaat-masala foodie. Elastic Face, Varun Sharma, is in peak form. Manjot Singh sustains his likeable screen presence. However, Ali Fazal tends to blend into the woodwork.”

It would be interesting to see how the film does over the weekend.
