Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaa starring Abhishek Bachchan, Taapse Pannu and Vicky Kaushal and Richa Chadha, Mrunal Thakur and Freida Pinto starrer Love Sonia witnessed a low collection at the box-office on their first day. Jackky Bhagnani and Kritika Kamra’s Mitron, had a slow start too. According to a report in Box Office India, Mitron has collected Rs 40-50 lakh net, while Love Sonia has collected Rs 25 lakh.

While Taran Adarsh has tweeted Manmarziyaan’s collection and said, “#Manmarziyaan has a low Day 1... Started on a dull note in the morning, but picked up towards evening... North circuits were better... Biz will scale upwards on Sat and Sun [a norm these days], but real test will be on weekdays... Fri ₹ 3.52 cr. India biz.”  Editor, Vickey Lalwani rated Manmarziyaan 3.5 stars and was quite appreciative of the film in his review, “Anurag Kashyap makes only dark cinema. He makes characters who give gaalis in every alternate sentence. His films are complicated. His ideas are confusing. His films don't make money. Time for all these notions to be flushed down the drain. Manmarziyaan is a film which has head and heart- and if you still find it confusing or misplaced, you need to get your head and heart both examined. Confidence, the other name Taapsee Pannu.”

Meanwhile, he rated Love Sonia 2.5 stars and wrote, “It's yucky at several points, it makes you cringe several times, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth often. So, while it could be just this what happens in brothels, Tabrez Noorani's Love Sonia ends up making you feel that the filmmaker is definitely trying for an audience that loves to get only titillated.”
