Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer film Mission Mangal saw a box-office clash with John Abraham’s Batla House as both the films released on Independence Day. Despite the clash, the films have been doing well at the box-office. Mission Mangal already crossed the 100 cr mark in 5 days, whereas Batla House was inching at a steady pace towards half a century and has crossed 50 crore mark. Mission Mangal also continues to soar high and has collected 112.5 cr nett.
According to BoxOfficeIndia, “Mission Mangal continued its strong run on Tuesday as it collected 7.50 crore nett to take its six day total to 112.50 crore nett. The first week is heading for a little over 125 crore nett. The film has the potential to get a huge 175 crore nett plus total on the board but it depend on the second week.” Mission Mangal has also done quite well globally and raked in 165.1 Cr worldwide. As per reports in BoxOfficeIndia, Batla House maintained its pace on Tuesday with collections of 4.25 crore nett. The six day numbers are a decent 52.50 crore nett and with such steady collections there is a chance the film will do good business in the final count.
SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani rated Mission Mangal 4.5 stars and wrote, “Akshay leads the way and he looks so handsome in those glasses. Brilliant performance. Watch him in the scenes with the antagonist Dalip Tahil. Watch how he treats his second-in-command Vidya and you will have a lump in your throat. Watch him how he fires Sonakshi. The list is long. And don't forget to note in this highly engaging film how Mr Kumar beautifully underplays himself!”
On the other hand, he rated Batla House 3.5 stars and wrote, “John Abraham is at his impressive best, sinking into the character like there's no tomorrow. Hmmm... maybe his best performance till date. Watch him in the scene where he says goodbye to his wife Mrunal Thakur in the car. Watch him in the scene where his senior tells him to not refuse the medal of honour. Watch him in the scene where he has a long discussion with Nora Fatehi. The list is long.”
