Thugs Of Hindostan, Weekend Box Office Collection: Expected Blockbuster Continues To Go Downhill

Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer Thugs Of Hindostan continues to disappoint. After collecting Rs 50.75 Cr on Thursday, the multi-starrer witnessed a major dip in its collection as it made Rs 28.25 Cr on Friday and Rs 22.75 Cr on Saturday. And on it's 4th day (Sunday) the film went further downhill.

According to a report in BoxOfficeIndia, the film made Rs 16.75 Cr on Sunday. Now, the total collection of the multi-starrer, for the extended weekend stands at Rs 117.5 Cr.

Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted the weekend numbers of the film in Hindi and regional language and wrote, “#ThugsOfHindostan HINDI: Thu 50.75 cr, Fri 28.25 cr, Sat 22.75 cr. Total: ₹ 101.75 cr TAMIL + TELUGU: Thu 1.50 cr, Fri 1 cr, Sat 75 lakhs. Total: ₹ 3.25 cr Total: ₹ 105 cr [5000 screens] India biz. #TOH”

The film has received bad response from the janta and aggressive trolling on social media, topped with memes mocking the film, have added to its negative publicity. Meanwhile, majority of critics have also given thumbs down to the film.

SpotboyE.com editor Vickey Lalwani rated the movie with 2.5 stars and wrote, “When I first heard that Yash Raj is out to make a film with two actors whom I love beyond measure, my happiness knew no bounds. I was disappointed with the trailer, but you know I believe in the age-old saying: Don't judge a book by its cover. So keeping an open mind, I walked into the first day, first show of Thugs Of Hindostan. Relished the warm start with Ronit Roy and the little Fatima, but as soon as Mr and Mrs Ronit Roy were shot and the way they went down- I knew Victor Krishna Acharya was out to make his actors ham in this film. I was scared. I didn't want Bachchan and Aamir to overact. Thankfully they didn't- but sadly they didn't leave unerasable impressions which they are known for. It was so evident that they held themselves in check and didn't go over-the-top as Victor wanted them to.”

With box-office figures continuously dropping and that too with big margins, it looks like this one's a sinking ship, which superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan also could not save.
