De De Pyaar De actress Rakul Preet Singh pulled off a big surprise. Trade pundits hail her almost as the "next big thing"
Equally in praise are the two other trade experts- Taran Adarsh and Komal Nahta. This is obviously after they saw Luv Ranjan's De De Pyaar De, directed by Akiv Ali. We bet, Rakul Preet Singh must be elated.
Somebody held her own in the same frame as Ajay Devgn and Tabu. We bet most other newbies might have got intimidated. Devgn and Tabu are star performers and we bet, Rakul surprised them too with her sterling performance. Rakul got good reviews from critics. I cannot forget that this youngster impressed me with her histrionics almost throughout the film. In my review, I wrote: "Well, she blew me away! So much confidence? How come?"

Rakul began her career at the age of 18 while she was still in college. In 2009, she made her acting debut in the Kannada film, Gilli, a remake of Selvaraghavan's 7G Rainbow Colony. She stated that she signed up the film "with the aim to earn a little extra pocket money" and that she was unaware "how big south Indian films were".She won critical acclaim for her role in the film before returning to complete her degree and compete in the 2011 Femina Miss India pageant. Apart from the People's Choice Miss Indiatimes, she won four subtitles at the pageant including Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face, Femina Miss Talented, Femina Miss Beautiful Smile and Femina Miss Beautiful Eyes.
Yesterday, we spoke to trade experts about her. While Taran Adarsh said. "Rakul was excellent", Amod Mehra said, "If she chooses her films wisely, she has the potential of being among the Top 3 heroines". Komal Nahta said, "She stood her own in front of seasoned artistes. She was very good, very confident."
