This is Salman's first release of 2017. His last flick, Sultan (2016), became the second biggest hit of his career. Also, Salman and director Kabir Khan's last film together Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) earned over Rs 626 crore at the box-office, becoming his biggest hit ever.

Salman has always stood by his brother Sohail Khan in his acting career. The two have acted together in 7 films, and Tubelight will be their next. The two were last seen together in Veer (2010).

Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo in Tubelight. SRK and Salman haven't been seen together on the big screen since Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam (2002). They  did come together for a special number in Om Shanti Om (2007) a decade earlier, but this would be the first time in almost 15 years that the two will share screen space.
