Aamir Khan Gets Relief In The ‘Intolerance’ Controversy Row; Court Dismisses Petition And Calls It ‘Meritless’-REPORT

Several Bollywood celebrities often get into trouble for speaking out their mind on issues related to the country. At times, some actors face severe backlash for addressing important issues and sharing their opinion on the same. One such celebrity, who got landed himself in hot waters was actor Aamir Khan. It was back in 2015 that a criminal petition was filed against Khan for commenting about the alleged growing intolerance in the country. Now, as per the latest reports, in Aamir Khan’s ‘intolerance’ controversy; the actor got relief as the court dismissed the petition.
According to reports by LiveLaw, a single bench of Justice Sanjay K Agrawal, dismissed the criminal petition filed against Aamir Khan, by terming it as ‘meritless’ and ‘substanceless’. In an order passed on November 23 by Chattisgarh High Court, Aamir Khan got relief from the ‘intolerance’ controversy. As per the report, the Bench said, “I do not find any merit in the instant petition. It deserves to be and is accordingly dismissed, being substanceless and meritless as well.”
The superstar had faced backlash in 2015 on the internet, which eventually landed him in a legal soup. Speaking of the criminal case filed against Aamir Khan, the complaint was filed by Dipak Diwan sought action against the actor for offences under Section 153A and 153B of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant had alleged that Aamir Khan’s remarks led to communal disharmony and were against national integration.

Aamir Khan during an interaction at a media summit had spoken against the growing intolerance in India and said that he was ‘alarmed’ by the number of incidents with his wife Kiran Rao. The actor also shared how Kiran Rao had suggested that they leave the country, as she fears for her child.
