After Protests Against Salman's Tiger Zinda Hai, Shilpa Shetty Apologizes For 'Bhangi' Comment
The Valmiki community in Jodhpur burnt posters of Salman Khan and protested against Shilpa Shetty for using the objectionable word, "bhangi". So much so, there are violent protests against Salman Khan's latest flick, Tiger Zinda Hai in Agra and Jodhpur, over the same. Many a movie screening have been stopped.

Seeing the sort of backlash Salman is getting, Shilpa decided - better safe than sorry. She took to Twitter and apologized for her comments.

Shilpa's tweet read, "Some of my words from an interview in the past have been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of hurting anyone’s feelings...(sic)."

She went on to add in another tweet, "I apologize if they have. I’m proud to belong to a country that boasts of diverse castes and creeds and I respect each one of them. (sic)."

For those who are unaware, here's what happened...

In an old video that has surfaced online again, Salman is on a chat show with Katrina Kaif. When quizzed about the choreography of a certain song, Salman says that if he doesn't feel the steps suit him or he looks “Bhangi” doing those, he simply refuses to do them.

Drawing parallels between his inability to do a dance step to one of the backward castes in India, Khan offended the Valmiki Samaj. "I look like a Bhangi doing this step," he said.

The second clip shows Shilpa interacting with a media person. When the hot bod diva is quizzed about her look when she is at home, she starts off by saying, "I look like a Bhangi..."

While, both the stars must have loosely used the above word, but it hasn’t gone down well with the Valmiki Samaj. And hence a complaint has been registered against the actors.

Now that Shilpa has apologized, let's wait and watch what Salman has to say about the whole matter.
