Legendary Indian footballer PK Banerjee breathed his last today afternoon at 12:40 pm. He is survived by his daughters Paula and Purna, and a younger brother Prasun Banerjee who is a Trinamool Congress MP. He breathed his last on the life support system after a prolonged illness. He was hospitalized on March 2. Mourning the death of this legendary footballer is actor Ajay Devgn, who was lucky enough to have an opportunity to work with him.

The actor was privileged to meet PK Banerjee during the shoot of his upcoming movie Maidaan. Paying his homage to this late footballer, the actor posted in his tweet about his meeting with PK Banerjee. Further praying for his soul to rest in peace. The actor also posted a picture with him, also seen in the picture with the actor and footballer are probably aspiring footballers. Ajay Devgn began filming for Maidaan in August 2019 and the film is set to release in December 2020.

Ajay tweeted, "Had the good fortune of meeting football legend PK Banerjee in Kolkata during the Maidaan schedule in November. Sad to hear about his demise. RIP, the man with the golden kick #PKBanerjee."
