Fans can rejoice as Rohit Shetty recently announced that his directorial 'Sooryavanshi' starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif is all to be released in theatres this Diwali. Yes, you read that right! For the uninitiated, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had recently announced that theatres in the state will be allowed to reopen from October 22. The meeting was attended by key representatives, exhibitors, including director-producer Rohit Shetty.

Rohit Shetty took to Instagram and shared a picture with CM Uddhav Thackeray and wrote in the caption, "Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY! we can say, This DIWALI... AA RAHI HAI POLICE." Reacting to the post, Bipasha Basu dropped clapping hands emoticons on the post. An excited fan wrote, "Finallllyyyyyy."

Akshay Kumar also shared his excitement on Twitter. Sharing a candid BTS photo, he wrote, "So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashta from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi - AA RAHI HAI POLICE. #Sooryavanshi #Diwali2021." Ranveer Singh commented, "AAJAAAAAA AKKKKKKI RAJAAAAA !!!!The time has come." Sooryavanshi has been making buzz ever since it was announced by the makers. The film, which was completed before the COVID-19 pandemic, had put its release on halt after the cinema halls were shut down owing to the COVID-19 wave across the country. The trailer had received an amazing response from the fans. And now that the film is set to finally release in theatres, fans can start counting the days.
