Alia Bhatt's Grandfather Narendranath Razdan Passes Away At 94; Actress Mourns Sad Demise Of Her Hero; Says, ‘My Heart Is Full Of Sorrow’

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt is left heartbroken as her grandfather Narendranath Razdan passed away on June 1. He was reportedly 94 and was not keeping well from the past few months. Soni Razdan’s father was recently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital due to a lung infection which got worse. He was then shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Alia took to her Instagram handle to mourn the sad demise of her grandpa and said her heart is full of sorrow.
The actress posted a throwback video of her grandfather from his 92nd birthday and penned a heartfelt note calling him her hero. Alia wrote, “My grandpa. My hero. Played golf till 93. Worked till 93. Made the best omelette. Told the best stories. Played the violin. Played with his great granddaughter. Loved his cricket. Loved his sketching. Loved his family & till the very last moment.. loved his life! My heart is full of sorrow but also full of joy .. because all my grandpa did is give us joy & for that feel blessed and grateful to have been brought up by all the light he had to give! Until we meet again.” In the clip, the actress’ grandfather was seen cutting his birthday cake, surrounded by his family. Ranbir Kapoor helped put candles on the cake.
Alia even gave a skip to this year's IIFA awards and also canceled an upcoming work commitment after her grandfather was hospitalized due to a lung infection.
Many of Alia’s industry friends offered their condolence messages in the comments section. Even veteran actor Soni paid a heartfelt tribute to her father as she recalled all the funny, silly conversations with her father. An excerpt from her interview read, “Daddy, grandpa, Nindi - our Angel here on earth. We are so thankful to have called you ours. So grateful to have lived a life basking in your incandescent glow. So blessed to have been touched by your kind, loving, gentle, and always vibrant soul. You have taken a piece of us with you, but we will never be parted with your spirit.”
