Born as Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor, he became popular among the masses as Shashi Kapoor. Battling an ailing health the veteran actor today celebrates his 79th birthday. A few of his friends from the film industry took to social media to wish him.


His nephew, Rishi Kapoor, who has worked with him in several films took to Twitter to say, "Shashi Kapoor. Many Happy Returns of the Day uncle! God Bless! (sic)." 

Rishi and Shashi have worked together in films like Kabhi Kabhi, Apna Khoon, Duniya Meri Jeb Mein, Doosara Aadmi and Apna Ghar.

One of Shashi Kapoor's good friends Amitabh Bachchan was among the first ones to wish him on social media. He said, "Happy birthday Shashi ji .. and to some of the most exciting and adventurous times spent together .. on set .. off set .. !! (sic)."

Amitabh and Shashi have worked together in almost 16 films including super hits like Deewaar, Trishul, Suhaag, Kabhi Kabhi, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Do Aur Do Paanch, Shaan and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.
