Anurag Kashyap Chooses MAMI Over Busan International Film Festival To Premiere Mukkabaaz
The 19th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) was launched this afternoon with a lot of fanfare. Anurag Kashyap, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Kiran Rao, Rohan Sippy were among those present for the grand launch.

Anurag, who is one of the panel members, was asked about the opening film, Mukkabaaz. The film which is a sports drama starring Jimmy Shergill.

"My film has never ever been screened at MAMI, and this year I am the opening film with Mukkabaaz, and it's an honour. But I had to take a conscious decision to let Mami premiere the film as because of it I lost out on premiering the film at the Busan International Film Festival. I wasn't even aware that my film was going to be shown at MAMI. The panel members asked me to show the film, and after every panel member saw it, they said that they wanted Mukkabaaz to open the festival. I wasn't even expecting it. But now that everyone wanted it, I had to speak to my producers and take permission and finally get the movie into MAMI,” revealed Anurag.

There will be over 220 films from 49 countries in 51 languages screened at the film festival this year.

The film festival will be held from October 12-18. Also, the movie mela , which is an intrinsic part of MAMI, will be held on October 7 - a week before the actual festival starts.
