Arjun Kapoor, who marked his bollywood debut with Ishaqzaade, has been in the news for his recently released films, as well as his upcoming movies. On the professional front, Arjun has definitely come a long way. On the personal side, as many know, Arjun has fought several weight-related battles and inspired others to never give up. In a recent interview, Arjun got candid as he opened up about weight issues and also recalled what he went through when his films weren't working.
Speaking to Bombay Times, Arjun said that he wasn't merely overweight growing up, but he had a medical condition. The actor shared, "Not many know, but I have been battling obesity for the longest time. I was just not a fat kid, it was a health issue. It hasn't been easy. My underlying health condition has always made it a struggle for me to constantly stay a certain size." He further added that he understands when certain audiences criticise his body type, because they expect actors to look a certain way, and aren't familiar with his struggle.
The actor said that 'shaming' has become a part of daily lives, and hoped for everyone, as a society, to do better. "When my films weren't working to the level that I expected them to, the negativity just mounted. The triggers that had caused my health issue in the first place came back, but I tried hard to keep going and make every day count. When you are constantly engulfed in work, you don't realise that slide that you could be going through. You could be crumbling from inside while putting on a brave face. It happened to me; it happens to a lot of people."
On the work front, Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Sardar Ka Grandson and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. Up next, he will be seen in Ek Villain 2 and Bhoot Police.
