One of the biggest hits of 2018 is set to become a franchise with the second installment of the movie in the pipelines. Badhaai Ho wasn’t just a critically acclaimed movie but it also hit the high numbers when it came to the box office. It had an ensemble cast with the recent National award-winning actor Ayushmann Khurana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri leading from the forefront. The pair of Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao won the hearts of millions for their role as the 50 something parents who inform their adult kids that they’re having a baby.
The film recently won the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment honor at the66th National Film Award Ceremony. Surekha Sikri also won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor (Female) for her role in the movie. Now, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror,the film is gearing up for a second installment. A source close to the development told the tabloid, “The script has been locked, and the makers are on the lookout to finalise on the cast.” Buzz is that the film will be tentatively titled Badhaai Ho 2 and will once again be a wholesome entertainer. The source further revealed, “The second installment will revolve around the shenanigans of a joint family and two young couples. It will take off next year.”
Meanwhile, Badhaai Ho revolved around the story of Nakul, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, and how the news of his mother’s (Neena Gupta) pregnancy comes as a shock for the family. The film was a big hit and while the second installment is underway, the film is also being remade in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
