Veteran and iconic singer Bappi Lahiri died on February 15 at the age of 69 due to multiple health issues at CritiCare Hospital in Juhu. A week after Bappi da’s demise, his son Bappa has opened up about the sad demise of the iconic singer and revealed that a day before his demise, he insisted on going home. The 'Disco King' of Bollywood kept saying 'ghar chalo ghar chalo'. Bappa also stated that his father was greatly affected by Lata Mangeshkar’s death.

In an interview with ETimes, Bappa poured out his heart and spoke about his relationship with his father and how his health deteriorated. Bappa said, “Bappi Lahiri was in the hospital for more than a month and every time he would call him, the late singer always show his will to go back home. Further, he explained how his health took turmoil later on the 15th evening as he started feeling drowsy. When asked Bappa about the major cause behind his father’s death, he clarified that it wasn’t a breathing issue but his heart just stopped working. “The doctor had been called and he said that he needs to be taken to the hospital. They reached the hospital but he couldn't be revived. I was on the phone all the time,” Bappa added.

Reminiscing his memories with his legendary dad, Bappa stated that he still cannot believe that his father is not around. “I used to do shows with him. There are so many memories. The love we are getting from everyone is unbelievable, my Dad was not just a musician or singer, he connected with everyone- right from a porter to a rickshawallah to every single soul,” he mentioned.


Bappa also revealed that his father was affected by Lata Ji's demise and was totally heartbroken. He was quoted saying, “Dad was affected by Lata ji's demise. He used to call her 'Maa'. She had helped him a lot. I am not able to digest that he is still not here. I can't believe it.”
