The 65th National Film Awards just concluded in New
Delhi. The Kapoors and Khannas were among the attendees. They received
posthumous awards for Sridevi and Vinod Khanna, respectively.
Boney Kapoor went along with daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor to receive the Best Actress (Hindi) award for Sridevi's stellar performance in Mom (2017). He became emotional before he had to go on stage with his daughters to receive the award.
Kavita Khanna also got very emotional while speaking about her late husband, Vinod Khanna, who was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Akshaye Khanna was also by her side to receive the award. Talking to a section of the media about the award she said, “It’s such a happy occasion and time of great pride for us, for the family, for all his fans and for everyone who loves him. There’s also a sense of his not being here to receive it. But I am so happy Akshay is going to receive it on his behalf... There can be no one better than Akshay to receive this on his behalf.”
The families were honoured by President Ram Nath Kovind as he rightly pointed
out that Sridevi & Vinod Khanna would be remembered forever.
