Rockstar is unarguably Imtiaz Ali’s best work. Whether
it’s the cinematography or Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri’s acting, every
aspect of the film has a special place in the archives of our memories. The
film hit theatres on November 11, 2011 and turned out to be a turning point for
Ranbir Kapoor. Imtiaz Ali took to his Instagram account and shared BTS pictures from the film.
The music of the film was composed by AR Rahman.
The film got nominated at most of the award functions.
Made on a budget of ₹600 million (US$9.4 million),
Rockstar grossed ₹1.08 billion (US$17 million) worldwide.
A major part of the shooting took place in Kashmir at
Kulgam, Kupwara and Srinagar, while the last phase was shot in Delhi at places
like the Kotla Mubarakpur, Nizamuddin Dargah, Greater Kailash, Munirka,
Connaught Place, Shri Ram College of Commerce, BL Kapoor Hospital, Rajendra
Nagar, St. Stephen's College and Hindu College.
Rockstar turned out to be a cult hit for the youth in
India.
