Chennai Express Turns Eight: Remembering How The Film Cemented Deepika Padukone's Position As Queen Of Bollywood
Hear the name Meenamma and there’s only one name that comes to mind – Deepika Padukone. With her immensely loved character in the blockbuster Chennai Express, the stunning superstar cemented her position as the ‘Queen of Bollywood’. Well, on her way to the position after Cocktail and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Deepika was on a roll delivering back-to-back hits and then came Chennai Express that celebrates its eighth anniversary today.

Not only was Deepika Padukone’s character in the action-comedy amongst the most loved in the history of cinema but her signature dialogues and scenes from Thangabali to Bakwaas Dictionary too still flood social media platforms. Deepika too celebrates eight years of reigning on the numero uno spot in the Hindi film industry – a significant feat that very few have managed to achieve in their career span.

The actress has consistently managed to hold the ‘Queen of Bollywood’ title for several years in a row now and with her exciting slate of films from Mahabharata, Nag Ashwin's Pan-Indian next with Prabhas, The Intern remake (with Amitabh Bachchan), Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan, Shakun Batra's next and Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, it seems like she’s not letting go of that title anytime soon.

There were reports of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh reuniting on screen for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, titled Baiju Bawra. Now as per our reports, the reunion won’t happen.
