CONFIRMED! Jhanvi Kapoor & Ishaan Khattar Take Their Friendship To The Next Level, Will Now Romance In The Sairat Remake
As we had told you, Shashank Khaitan will direct the film. The music is by Ajay-Atul. And yes, it's a Dharma film. Goes without saying that Jhanvi and Ishaan are very excited
debut has got the grapevine buzzing again and now it's official. The guy
opposite her is Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan and the film in question is the
Sairat remake, to be produced by Dharma Productions. No wonder, the two
young turks were spotted watching Baywatch together on Sunday night.
It was felt that Dharma Productions can't be considering Jhanvi for the remake of the Marathi superhit. We all know that the young fashionista, who makes several heads turn wherever she goes, is too glamorous to play a village belle. But Jhanvi has taken up the challenge and it will be interesting to see how she rises to the occasion. Knowing her mother Sridevi's acting talent, it shouldn't be difficult for Jhanvi.
Earlier, SpotboyE.com had told you that one of the filmmakers who failed to woo Jhanvi is none other than the man who made Ghajini (2008) -- A.R. Murugadoss. But Jhanvi had declined Murugadoss.
SpotboyE.com had also told you that Shashank Khaitan, who directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniafor him, will captain the film in question.
Khaitan had joined Whistling woods (a film institute started and supported by senior filmmaker Subhash Ghai) to break into the movie industry. While at Whistling Woods, he worked on his first attempted movie, Sherwani Kahaan Hai, with some of his fellow students, but the movie was not successfully completed. In 2008, he starred as Manohar in Roorkee By-Pass, a 22-minute drama directed by Arundhati Sen Verma and then went on to assist on the sets of Ghai's Black & White--- before Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt happened. Last, he directed Badrinath Ki Dulhania (with Varun & Alia again) which proved to be a biggerf hit than Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania..
Sairat, a romance set in a caste heartland of rural Maharashtra became one of the biggest hits of 2016. The film starring newcomers, Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, was also the first Marathi film to join the 100 crore club.
Shashank khaitan And Abhishek Varman
For the uninitiated, Abhishek Varman was the first choice tto direct the Sairat rmake. Varman is one film old but he delivered a hit with his very first attempt. Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer 2 States won hearts and numbers at the box-office.
While the Saitrat remake may well be Jhanvi's debut in Bollywood, this will be Ishaan's second venture after Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds. Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut had been considered to play the lead in Majid's flick, but both did not end up being a part of the cast.
Kangana felt that the film- which will be an Indian release and not just for festival circuit- is not the right fit for her presently when she is at the top of her game in Bollywood where she has her pick of heroine-centric projects. And with that Kangana made up her mind that she needs to let this pass. A day or two later, she met Majidi at length and convinced him respectfully why she would like to opt out. Majidi understood and both shook hands gracefully.
Earlier, Deepika Padukone had reportedly had a look-test held in the Dhobi Ghat of Mumbai, which saw her sporting dark make-up and tattered clothes.
