Dangal’s Zaira Wasim Gets Into Twitter War With Sports Minister Vijay Goel

The young Geeta from Dangal has rebuffed Union minister for sports and youth affairs Vijay Goel on Friday for a comment that he made about her at the India Art Fest at Thyagraj Stadium in Delhi. The Minister compared a painting of a woman wearing burkha and another girl captured inside a cage to Zaira and tweeted: This painting tells a story similar to @zairawasim, पिंजरा तोड़ कर हमारी बेटियां बढ़ने लगी हैं आगे| More power to our daughters!

All hell broke loose as Zaira, is at the centre of a controversy facing flak for meeting J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti,  refuted saying, “Sir, with all respect to you, I feel I must disagree. I request you not to connect me to such a discourteous depiction. Women in hijab are beautiful and free. Moreover, the story depicted through this painting is not even remotely relevant to mine.”

The Minister, however tried to make his statement correct by replying, “You have interpreted wrong. I appreciated your work and stated that evil and patriarchal notions must be discouraged.”

He also expressed his wish to meet the Dangal actress by saying, “I'm afraid you still haven't understood. But I wish you all the very best and appreciate your work. Hope to meet & interact too.”
