From winning the Miss World title in 1994, becoming one of the most prominent names in Bollywood, to getting married to Abhishek Bachchan and giving birth to their daughter, the actress has achieved every feat gracefully.

Today, as Ash turns a year older, let's revisit the time when Amitabh Bachchan opened up about her pregnancy journey. For the unversed, Aishwarya was pregnant with daughter Aaradhya when she was in her late 30s, the age frowned upon by society for women to give birth for the first time. During an interaction with the media, Bachchan revealed that the Devdas actress had denied epidurals and painkillers. While most women usually prefer going through a C-section, Ash wanted to go through a normal pregnancy even though she faced some complications. He commended her strength as she was in acute labour for almost three hours.

India TV quoted Big B saying, "We went there on the 14th night. The doctors had told us that the baby could arrive anytime now. On the 16th morning, she delivered the baby. This was a normal delivery even though these days people opt for C-section and other things. But Aishwarya wanted a normal delivery. She had to struggle but I commend her that she was in acute labour for a long time, almost 2-3 hours. But she persisted, said she wanted a normal delivery. On the work front, Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s dream project, Ponniyin Selvan I. She essayed the role of Nandini, Queen of Pazhuvoor. Released on September 30, the pan-Indian film also starred Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhita Dhulipala in pivotal roles. She will be reprising her role in Ponniyin Selvan II.
