Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty got married to cricketer KL Rahul on 23rd January at the Shetty's Khandala farmhouse. Their wedding was a low-key affair with just family members and a few close friends in attendance. For her big day, Athiya opted for a beautiful pink chikankari lehenga designed by Anamika Khanna and looked breathtakingly beautiful in her bridal outfit that was handmade in silk with zardozi and jaali work. But do you know this handmade lehenga took 10,000 hours to make?
Yes, you read that right! In a recent interview with Vogue, designer Anamika revealed that lehenga “is a labour of love and took approximately 10,000 hours to make.” Talking about the inspiration behind the outfit, she said it was Athiya herself. Anamika was quoted saying, “Athiya's got extremely fine, subtle, and beautiful taste. I wanted to develop something special for her that was resonant with the fact that she was going to be the bride, but she was never going to be that bride for whom everything else takes over. She has a very strong personality, and I think she's acutely aware of it.”
The celebrity designer added, “Nothing is screaming for attention [with the lehenga], and yet, it's just so her. Safe to say that it is not an outfit she will get bored of even in the coming years.”
Notably, Athiya completed her exquisite bridal outfit with minimal jewelry like a heavy choker necklace, mang tika, earrings, and bangles. She even kept her makeup subtle by opting for kohl-rimmed eyes, blush pink eyeshadow, and nude pink lips.
