The King of Masala movies Rohit Shetty recently reflected on his parents' experiences in the film industry, particularly his mother Ratna Shetty, who worked as a stuntwoman and body double for Hema Malini in the 1972 film Seeta Aur Geeta. He discussed the challenges they faced and the injuries they encountered while working in Bollywood during the early years of their careers. In a recent interview with ANI, the Singham director shared that his family has a history of being involved in action scenes in the film industry. He mentioned that his mother, Ratna Shetty, worked as a stuntwoman and even served as Hema Malini's body double in the film "Seeta Aur Geeta." Rohit highlighted that the iconic scenes, such as Vyjanthimala rolling down the staircase, featured his mother as the body double due to her physique. Moreover, the filmmaker further shared insights into the contributions of his father, MB Shetty, in the film industry. He mentioned that his father directed action sequences in iconic movies like Deewar, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Great Gambler, Don, An Evening in Paris, and Trishul. Notably, MB Shetty is credited with inventing the glass break technique. Rohit recalled that his father often returned home with blood stains and stitches due to the physically demanding nature of his work.
On the work front, Rohit Shetty's newly released web series Indian Police Force is winning hearts. The show stars Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty Kundra in major roles. It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The director also awaits the release of Singham Again.
