The movie will star Janhvi Kapoor, Karthik Aryan and a third “suitable boy” in lead roles. Karan Johar revealed that he will soon launch the third hero. Karan Johar took to Instagram to share a video revealing the names, the post read, “The return of the franchise with unlimited madness! @kartikaaryan, @janhvikapoor & a soon to be launched fresh face - making it the trio for #Dostana2, directed by @collindcunha. Watch out for the third suitable boy! @apoorva1972 @dharmamovies.”
The movie will showcase the trio of Janhvi who is appreciated for her performance in Dhadak, while Kartik has emerged as a teen sensation; the most awaited is the third face. This new face is a newcomer who will join the two actors, to complete the triangular romantic-comedy. The Dostana 2 trio will be directed by debut director Collin D’cunha.
The original film Dostana released in 2008 and was directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The film starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles and is based on two straight men that pretend to be gay in order to share an apartment with Priyanka Chopra. However, the two end up falling in love with the actress.
