The casting of Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt in the actor's biopic was an interesting choice. First things first, the clean-cut Ranbir looks nothing like Sanjay, who has a colourful history replete with addiction, prison stints and controversies.

The film which will go on floors in January, charts Sanjay Dutt's life, from his days as the young heir to Bollywood's most powerful couple Nargis and Sunil Dutt, his many romances, his foray into Bollywood to the infamous episode of imprisonment.

Dutt's prominent jawline and nose are sure to figure in the prosthetics' team's to-do list.
The team is currently working on two looks: a young, long-haired and lean Sanjay Dutt from one of his earlier hits Vidhaata and an older Sanjay Dutt from the Munna Bhai films.

A source in the film's unit told SpotboyE.com that neither the film's director Rajkumar Hirani nor Ranbir himself, wants the performance to become a caricature of Sanjay. Instead they want to surprise the viewers with varied shades of resemblance throughout the film.
So you will not see Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt while looking like himself. Instead you will see a nuanced performance with the actor impersonating his subject's famous body language.
Plus, we will now have some fake body parts lending a helping hand too.
This is not the first time that Bollywood stars have relied on prosthetics to breathe life into a character. Amitabh Bachchan famously morphed into a 12-year-old suffering from the rare genetic disorder of progeria in Paa.
More recently, Shah Rukh Khan wore facial prosthetics to play a look-alike fan of himself in Fan.
And now we may soon see Ranbir Kapoor sporting a fake nose.
