As filmmaker-singer-actor Farhan Akhtar gears up for the release of Toofaan helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, he is overwhelmed to reveal collaborating with none other than Salman Khan for the first-ever time. As reported in Pinkvilla, the actor has termed this project extremely special as it traces down the journey of their fathers Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan, who are one of the most celebrated writer duos of the film fraternity. Salman Khan is said to be playing the lead in this documentary. The Toofaan shared being excited for this venture with Salman Khan.
As reported in Pinkvilla, he said, “With Salman, he and I have met and had a desire to work together. Unfortunately, nothing has ever fallen into place. But we are collaborating on something. I think that's more special than any film can be, which is that we are collaborating on a documentary about Salim uncle (Salim Khan), and my father (Javed Akhtar) of their incredible partnership as writers. Their talent as writers individually, together as writers, and this absolute phenomena of Salim-Javed that they had.”
He added, “That to me is an incredible collaboration which I am doing with him (Salman Khan). So I am very very excited about that.”
A few weeks ago, Zoya Akhtar too was reported to be working on this project, back then she shared this writer duo opened up new avenues for the writers in the industry. Also, it will be premiered on the digital platform.
Salim-Javed have given out many iconic films in their career as writers such as Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewar, Trishul, Don, Shakti and more.

Toofaan reunited the actor with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after 8 years, the duo had teamed up for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag released in 2013.
