There is a new status symbol in town, the fresh-off-the-mint currency note for 2000 rupees. Bollywood seems to be loving the purple currency and is flooding Twitter with selfies where they are posing with the new note
We witnessed plenty of social media meltdowns when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization of 500 and 100 notes.
People on social media have been thinking out loud in the past couple of days about the practicality of the decision and as to how will they conduct basic transactions and buy everyday necessities if all they have is are Rs 500 notes, and none of the lower denominations.
Today, the entire nation seemed to have queued up at banks to exchange their notes. And on Thursday, the fresh notes of rupees 2000 brought a smile on everyone’s face.
