Chitrangada Singh who is looking a million bucks, is now finally ready to flag off her biopic on the renowned hockey player Sandeep Singh, and ex-captain of the Indian hockey team. SpotboyE.com has it that Diljit Dosanjh, who has made good inroads into Bollywood after his debut Udta Punjab, will play the star hockey player.
Ranbir Kapoor Was Chitrangada Singh's First Choice For The Role
SpotboyE.com also has it that Shaad Ali will direct the film, which will be co-produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions , headed by Sneha Rajani. The film is expected to go on floors sometime next year,
It was under Singh's captaincy that India managed to clinch the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2009, after downing Malaysia in the finals. India won the title after 13 years, and Singh was the top goal scorer in the competition.

Chitrangada is very excited to put Singh's story on celluloid. She believes that it will be very inspirational content. Three years before the Sultan Azian Shah Cup, Singh was accidentally shot in a train, while on his way to join the national team who were about to leave for the World Cup in Germany. He was almost paralysed and led a life strapped to a wheelchair for two years. Singh not only recovered from the serious blow, but fought his way back into the team with a sensational comeback.
It is a known fact that Chitrangada wanted to make this biopic since 2013. Ranbir Kapoor was her first choice to essay Singh's role. "Chitrangada Singh has bought the rights for making a film on my life. I am very excited that people will see my story on celluloid," Singh had then told a section of the media
Diljit Dosanjh Has Been Cast As Sandeep Singh
Singh too wanted Ranbir. "I am a big fan of Ranbir and I want him to play the lead. He has played the role of a Sikh in Rocket Singh and looked very convincing. However, the producer will take a call on this. I just want this movie to convey a message to the youngsters that nothing is impossible if you have will power. No one had imagined that I will be able to make a comeback after that accident but I did. I hope that youth will get inspired from my life story, he had added.
It is now official that it's not Ranbir but Diljit who will head the cast.
Meanwhile, Chitrangada is busy shooting with Saif Ali Khan for Nikhil Advani's Baazaar. Saif plays a businessman, while Chitrangada plays his wife.
