Irrfan Khan Passes Away: 'If I Get To Live, I Want To Live For Sutapa' Actor Had Said When Angrezi Medium Was Releasing
The sudden death of Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has left us all in shock. Known for his stellar performances in Bollywood and Hollywood films, Irrfan Khan passed away today, on April 29, 2020, after battling neuroendocrine cancer for a few years. As the talented actor was last seen in film Angrezi Medium that hit theatres recently before the imposed lockdown, during the film’s release, Irrfan Khan had said that if he gets to live, he wanted to live for wife Sutapa. During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Irrfan Khan had said that he wanted to live for wife Sutapa Sikdar if he gets to live. The actor had shared that when he was undergoing treatment for a neuroendocrine tumor, his wife Sutapa was with him 24/7. The actor was quoted saying, “She has evolved in care-giving and if I get to live, I want to live for her. She is the reason for me to keep at it still.” Khan also revealed how things stopped mattering so much for him in the two years after he was diagnosed. The actor said, “You screen out noises …You are selective about what you want to filter in. I have gone through tremendous but have somehow managed to control it, then, let go. You are playing hopscotch all the time.

The Angrezi Medium actor mentioned how he had somehow managed to control everything and spoke about how one plays the hopscotch all the time in such circumstances. Speaking about battling the disease together as a family, Irrfan Khan had said that it had been a roller-coaster ride, a memorable one. The actor said, “It has been a roller-coaster ride, a memorable one. Happy moments were underlined because of the inherent uncertainty. We cried a little and laughed a lot. We became a huge body."


Meanwhile, in March 2018, Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with the rare disease and had left for further treatment to London. Khan briefly visited India in February 2019 and shot his last film Angrezi Medium during that period. The actor traveled back and forth often for his treatment and was still recovering from the disease. Before the trailer launch of the film Angrezi Medium, Irrfan Khan has shared a heartfelt and emotional video talking about how he will not be able to promote the film due to health issues.
