Jiah Khan’s mother has recorded her testimony, revealing that the late actress was ‘physically and verbally’ abused by her then-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi
Jiah Khan, widely known for her performance in Amitabh Bachchan’s film ‘Nishabd’, was found dead at her Mumbai home in June 2013. As per CBI, a three-page suicide note was found where the actress had talked about suffering at the hands of actor and then-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, who was booked for abetment of suicide after Jiah’s shocking death. Now, Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan on Wednesday appeared before a special court in Mumbai and recorded her testimony in connection to a case against Sooraj.
As per the PTI report, the late actress’ mother not just talked about Jiah’s relationship with Sooraj, and her entry into the film industry but she also made some shocking revelations. Rabia revealed that Sooraj had approached Jiah on social media and asked her to meet him. Although at first, she was ‘apprehensive and reluctant to meet the actor, she later agreed. The two met for the first time in September 2012. “At that time she sent some pictures… to me it looked like they clicked and had mutual interest… However, in September she (Jiah) told me they were just friends,” Rabia said in court. Jiah Khan’s mother also narrated an incident when Sooraj embarrassed Jiah by flirting with other women in front of her. Rabia went on to reveal that on February 14, 2013, Jiah suddenly went to London and she looked very sad. The actress told her mother that Sooraj abused her verbally and physically and also called her “dirty names.” Reportedly, Jiah's mother's testimony will continue on Thursday.
For the unversed, Sooraj is the son of actor Aditya Pancholi. He was arrested by Mumbai Police in the case on the charges of abetment of suicide. He is currently out on a bail.
