Kaabil Makes Rs 2 Cr Over Weekend In Pakistan, Raees Gets Banned!
Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam, Ronit and Rohit Roy starrer Kaabil has been getting good reviews from all quarters ever since it released on January 25. The film proved to be tough competition for Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan starrer Raees which released on the same day.

As the two films were going steady at the box-office, news came in that both – Raees and Kaabil – might release in Pakistan. However,it was only Kaabil which made it to the theatres last Friday. Now, results of the first weekend collections of the revenge drama are out and it will give Kaabil’s makers a reason to smile.

The film pocketed ₹2 Crore in the neighbouring country, which is commendable considering that a number of Bollywood films don't get a theatrical release in the country.

On the other hand, Raees has been banned by theaters in Pakistan, and the film might never see the light of the day there. A ‘dumfounded’ Rahul Dholakia took to Twitter to write, “#raeesbanned in Pakistan ??? Outraged !! Dumbfounded!! (sic).”

Reports suggest Pakistan Board felt that Raees’s content was ‘objectionable’ for the country and ‘distorted the true spirit of Islam’. Hence they decided against screening the film.

Talking of Indian box office figures, both movies are well into the ₹100 Crore club. Raees was leading in the first week, but a strong word-of-mouth buzz coupled with critical acclaim helped Kaabil pick up in the second week and bridge the gap considerably.
