Kangana Ranaut once again sparked controversy at the recent Times Now Summit 2021, where she mentioned the country achieved freedom back in 1947 as ‘Bheek’ (alms) and the country actually got its freedom in 2014. As reported in PTI, this statement of the actress has not gone down well with the ruling party of the state of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena. The political party has asked the Modi government to be stripped of all her prestigious national awards she has been recognized with, due to this unpleasant statement.
Newspaper Saamana, carrying the statement of the Shiv Sena, had mentioned that such insult for the independence that came to the country will a lot, sweat, blood, tears and sacrifices will not be tolerated. The statement read, “The Modi government should strip Kangana of all her national awards. Taking potshots at BJP, Sena said Ranaut's comments have exposed its "fake nationalism. Nobody had insulted India's freedom fighters in such a manner before Kangana. Recently she was honoured with the Padma Shri award which had earlier been conferred to freedom fighters.”
The statement further read, “It is unfortunate that Kangana was honoured with the same award.” Also reacting to the actress’ comment, the statement mentioned how there was no one from the actress’ ancestors when the country attained freedom.
