Since Thursday night, the industry has gone into a tizzy over the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil-Shivaay war. It all started when Ajay Devgn released a tape which had KRK (Kamaal R Khan) saying that Karan Johar had paid him money to run down Ajay’s Shivaay (Devgn releases tape saying that Karan has paid KRK to run down Shivaay, Sep 1). Ajay then even sent out an official statement demanding that a thorough investigation be done in this regard. All through this brouhaha, KJo had maintained a stoic silence.
However, the filmmaker broke his silence last evening. At an event yesterday, when Karan was asked about the on-going controversy, he said, “My self-respect, reputation, company reputation, upbringing doesn’t allow me to dignify this question with a response.”
The tape in question goes that Kumar Mangat (Ajay Devgn’s manager) expresses his displeasure over KRK’s tweets condemning Shivaay and showering praises on ADHM. To which KRK is heard saying: “The man has paid me Rs 25 lakh and I am bound to favour him.” Next, Mangat offers him money and KRK replies, “I can tweet in favour of you even without being paid, but what to do when your actor doesn't even reply when I send him birthday wishes.” However, as soon as the tape was released, KRK had claimed that the tape was false!
However, Ajay Devgn stuck to his guns. The actor released an official statement that read, “We have only made you aware of what KRK has said. KRK is contradicting himself in explanations about what he has said in the recording and what we all have just heard in his postured press conference.”
