That's the hottest rumour in Bollywood and Katrina Kaif has decided to keep mum about it. Kat did not respond to our text message after reading it, neither her publicist got back- and we are going ahead with this story after a wait of nearly 24 hours. We hear, Katrina Kaif has been asked to play India's legendary sprinter P T Usha. Yes, you heard it right.

We do not know yet if Revathy S Varmha the filmmaker who is planning to make that biopic has asked Katrina to tan herself or will use prosthetics to accomplish the same, or like Bhansali did with Priyanka Chopra in the Mary Kom biopic- just go with the actress, without changing her external appearance much. Interestingly, Priyanka was in contention to play the titular role. What made the offer land at Katrina's doorstep is still not known. Or, are both running the race?

Remains to be seen if Katrina accepts this role which should anyway be a challenging landmark in her career. Kat was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero and is now gearing up for the promotional campaigns on Salman Khan's upcoming film Bharat.

Sports biopics have done well- Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Mary Kom (2014), Dangal(2016), and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story are cases in point. There is no reason why the one on P T Usha---called the 'Queen of Indian track and field'- should not, considering her popularity. “Yes, I have given permission for a biopic on me,” Usha had confirmed with a leading daily, sometime ago.

Varmha has seven South movies and more than 450 ad films to her credit. Varmha has also said the movie will be called PT Usha and set to tunes by AR Rahman. The biopic on P T Usha will be her first Hindi film. Sajish Sargam, who works as a cardiologist, has been asked to pen the screenplay. The movie is likely to be made in English, followed by a dubbed version to release simultaneously in four other languages- Hindi, Malayalam, Chinese and Russian.
